Josh Hamilton, Big Brown And The SABRE Triple Crown

About a week ago they debated on P.T.I whether Josh Hamilton can win the triple crown. I though it was a silly question, Hamilton doesn't hit for average enough to win the batting title.

However, that question got me thinking of how outdated the standard MLB triple crown is.

The current triple crown metrics are Batting Average, HR's, and RBI's.

Batting Average doesn't take into account walks and we know On Base Percentage is a much better sadistic to measure your hitting ability.

RBI's are an outdated stat for the triple crown because they aren't an individual stat. You need men on base to get RBI's.
