This Is The Story Of Seven Strangers...

What makes a Real World cast great?

Is it looks? Is it humor? Personality in general?

Take one of my real world icons Frank.

Why was Frank great? Frank was great because he represented the everyman. Who can't relate with wanting to hook up with a girl and not getting her (or in his case watching her get with his roommate.) All things considered Frank handled the situation well. He didn't go crazy, he kept his sense of humor and of course has the great moment where he made the motion of putting a gun to his head when Steven and Treschell were making out on top of him. As a guy you wanted to hang out and have a drink with Frank, that's what makes a great Real World Character.

And while this season is amazing I have some gripes.

First of all theres Greg who is a self-centered egomaniac, very unlikeable. Heres what I don't get. He spends the first month or so of his stay in the house pissing off everybody, playing practical jokes, not cleaning up after himself, blowing off class and almost getting into a fight with every roommate (including Sara's boyfriend.)

Flash forward to last weeks episode after a major blow up where Dave, (more on him in a second) plays the "dead father died because you were gay card" and Will almost hits him everyone all of a sudden realizes, you know what "I don't know why I didn't like Greg." Dave hugs him and says they should try to get along Bree says she's "neutral." They proceed to have an Orgy in the hot tub.

Wait what? Here's what I don't get. You didn't like the guy, you had good reason not to like the guy. I don't like the guy and I didn't live with him. And now all of a sudden you've resolved your differences?

And this brings us to this weeks episode where Greg, to no ones surprise, gets fired. And when your fired (or in this case kicked out of the improv group) it means your stay in the Real World house it over. Now, you would think after last weeks revelations someone would stand up for poor Greg.

Well, you thought wrong, not a single person defended him or pleaded for the Improv Club to reconsider. In fact they all seemed happy he was going. What I don't get is how everyone could just go through so many 360's. Greg is hateable just hate him.

Now this bring us to gripe numero dos, Joey, more specifically how the rest of the group interacts with Joey.

Really for all the talk of how excited they were to see Joey they didn't really show it. You have a guy coming straight out of rehab who you supposedly "love" and you decide, whelp lets go get drunk. This doesn't really surprise me if you remember the episode where a drug counselor came to explain how they can help Joey everyone seemed more concern about being able to still get their drank on than actually helping Joe.

And Bree's speech about "not owing him anything" is just moronic and makes her sound like an idiot. As Joey put it "it's not about owing anyone anything, it's about being a good person." Well said.

And this brings me back to my original point, what makes a great Real World and the answer is

Drum roll please.....

Being Real! I hate fakeness and I hate stupidity and this current cast runs deep in those things. Most of this cast doesn't pass the, Frank memorial "beer test."

With that being said, the grievances I just aired (and it's not even festivus) haven't stopped this season of the real world from being an insanely entertaining hour of television.

[And yes, I hate my self that I just analyzed the cast of the real world.]

It's Fantastic!

If your not watching this season of the Real World your missing out.

I can't even put into words how absurd this season has been.

Just watch it.

[Funny Note: That picture is from the M and M agency website. Sound familiar it should. I'm still waiting for C.T. to Pepper My Sauce]

A Trip Down Memory Lane....

With our 1st anniversary coming up soon, I was looking back through some old files, and found some funny stuff. Here's something fun for example: This was almost our Second Banner (Between Jorge Posada and Chad Pennington)

That's right. That's our beloved Jason and favorite female blogger Tal sandwiching Jen from the Real world Denver. The picture was taken in Vegas on New Years 2007.

Why did I never put this up?

Real World Sydney Preview!

As I lied in my bed last night flipping through the channels trying to fall asleep I stumbled upon pure gold. The Real World Sydney casting special. Since I love crappy reality T.V. I was sucked in. Here's some thoughts on this coming Real World Season.

Cast is 3 guys and 4 girls which is always a good thing. They have chose to forgone the stereotypical black and gay characters this season which is a welcome surprise (not because I have anything against these people, but they always get stereotyped and portrayed in the same fashion. It's like the same the same show every year). However they have replaced them with a Muslim girl and a guy who lives in small town USA and hasn't ever been on a plane.

As usually all of the girls are super attractive. We have the 23 year old college student who writes a sex column. The 19 year old "innocent" girl who wears a chastity ring, yet has already had sex. Explain to me how that works? She lasted the longest of all her friends though, she characterizes herself as a make out slut. Good for her! We also have the Muslim girl from NY city and a 20 year old with a smoking hot body but the personality of a rock. In the clips and her casting tape she kept referring to herself as cute and how everyone hates her cause she's so cute. She also is proud of the fact that she's a tease. Apparently her nickname in high school was "cock tease". Awesome. I think Wes summed up my feeling very well on the casting show "Girls, you don't have to be a slut but don't be a tease." Thank you Wes for summing up the feelings of males everywhere.

Of course the males are just as if not more important to the success of the real world. At least for me I think the criteria of having a good Real World season is the same as having a good chick flick. The girls have to be hot, so even if their dumb you can ignore it and stare at their breasteses. The guys have to be charismatic and likable. That way when they hook up with the hot chicks it doesn't bother you as a male viewer. However, if some toolbox is getting all this ass it's going to piss you off and make you not want to watch. This is why Vegas was the best season of the Real World.

Last season Tyree and Alex carried the show. Alex actually aged like a fine wine. At first I thought he was annoying, but as the season grew you realize he's not some jack off but just a normal guy with no game who got lucky to be on The Real World and pulled in a bunch of ass because of it. Isn't that everyone's goal when they go on the real world? I know it would be mine!

Anyway, this season worries me slightly in that aspect. Of course I'm judging from the very little I have seen but it's ok to be petty, I mean were talking about the real world after all.

The male characters are Issac, the "crazy guy." He talks about how he gets arrested all the time at home, smokes and drinks all the time etc. He doesn't like relationships, if your a "cool girl you can chill with him." He just seems dumb. Plus he's from Cleavland and we all know I hate Cleavland! The other guy seems charming but he has a girlfriend and that could turn into an annoying subplot. Plus he says "he's more proud to be from the south than the USA" as he proudly displays his Missouri state flag. Once again potential yet drawbacks. The other guy might be the key to the whole show. I can't remember his name off hand but because he's been so sheltered living in log cabins and cut off from what the real world (ha ha I'm punny) is he's in for culture shock. As Chloe puts it "he's living in 1976 right now"

The final key to a Real World season being successful is the job and the location. Last season while the Outward Bound job certainly made for many feel good moments it also had some of the more boring episodes of the season. Being in an exotic location like Sydney should lead to some creative and interesting job.

All in all I'm excited. You can be sure I'm not missing the season premier this Wednesday!

(P.S. You can be throughout this season I plan to insult every single "character" on the show. It's my goal to offend as many half-celebrities with this blog as possible. C.T. was just the begining!)

Timmy needs to retire

Here's some quick hits

-Linkin Park album drops on Tuesday. First impressions are eh, I feel like it can never be as good as the debut album. The song Bleed it Out is amazingly catchy and definitely has driving blaring it with the windows open potential

-I had to comment on the suspensions stemming from the Suns Spurs game. I was going to devote a whole blog to it and than i realized that I don't really care about basketball.

Here's loyal reader and all around good guy Dave Bamdad's take.

David Stern and the rest of the front office must review the current rule of suspending players for walking onto the court during an altercation. If Stoudamire and Diaw are going to be suspended for getting up after their player is basically hip checked into the scorer's table, Duncan should be suspended for walking onto the court when his player decided to fall on a Sun's player and therefore onto the floor. Just because an altercation did not brew after that incident doesn't make what Duncan did any better. David Stern may have just handed the Western Conference Championship and maybe NBA Championship to the Spurs because of a flagrant foul they committed.

Seriously Robert Horry tries to kill Steve Nash by elbowing him into the scorers table right by the Suns bench and their not suppose to react? I know the rule is there protect things like Artestgate from happening but this is absurd. Way to ruin a great series David.

P.S. This wouldn't have happened if the NBA made any sense and reseeded playoff teams.

-We had a Jenn V Collie Inferno. Jenn won, I <3 Watch this now, thank me later

-Brock Lesnar and Jhonnie Morton are fighting on the next Showtime MMA card...I'm speechless thats former WWE Champ Brock Lesnar, and washed up former NFL Wide Out Jhonnie Motorn...
Thats all for today

I know Bill Brasky...I like you!

Todays a ridiculously long day for me so no time for a blog, hope you enjoyed Anthony's review of Spiderman.

A few quick notes:

-The early estimates of the De La Hoya fight's PPV numbers are ridiculous. Upwards of 2.15 million ppv buys. Heres the story

-Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora was recently crowned chief of the village of Okbunike in Nigeria. His locker nameplate now reads Chief Osi Umenyiora. "I have officially declared myself...the best defensive end in the NFL," he says. "To prove this...I will have one of the best seasons ever for a defensive end. If not, I will jump off the George Washington Bridge. I do not want to jump off the George Washington Bridge because it will be detrimental to my health."

...So long Osi, we hardly knew you

-I taped a 2 hour SNL special about the 90's and SNL that was on last week. It's really a shame how bad SNL has become. I suggest everyone watch this special if possible, very enjoyable.

-Danny (who apparently somewhere between his season of the real world and now has lost his mind) got sent home by Davis in the Inferno last night. Danny came into the challenge with his dead mothers name written on his cheek....does this disturb anyone else? On an unrelated note Tonya is still crazy.

-Get your Tivo's ready! What to watch tonight, LOST and the Real World: Denver, in the previews for tonights episode they mention how Chloe is sloppy. I think were meant to be together.

Look for a fantasy baseball column in the next few days

On that note it's off to the Shed to get drunk!
