Ohhh, Crazy Al...

The more I look at this draft, the more I'm convinced that the Jets will be saved by the only person who has had a worse offseason than them.

Al Davis is going to want Darren McFadden. It's as simple as that.

Rotoworld has reported some grumblings out of Oakland that Al wants McFadden. Anyone who knows anything about the draft knows that Al loves the freak athlete, and the only two who fit that bill are DMC and Vernon Gholston. Outside linebackers or defensive ends aren't nearly as sexy as star runners.

Congrats, Jets Fans. Your team has been saved from themselves.

Black Hole Sun Won't Ya Come

And wash away Al Davis, Black Hole Sun Wontcha Come Wontcha COMEEEEEE...

Seriously if Cleavland is the "mistake by the lake" this team is the "mess in the west."

Let's recap their Off-Season so far:

-Al Davis V Lane Kiffin

Kiffin apparently wanted to head back to college. Crazy Al apparently was ok with it, what resulted was a bizarre standoff that resulted in a whole lot of "no comments" from either side. Oh yea than Crazy Al hired James Lofton as the "Head Coach In Waiting"

-Tommy Kelly For President!

Really? Highest paid DT in the league? I didn't know that it was a good idea to give un-drafted DE's who haven't proved themselves ANDDDDD are coming off an ACL injuries huge contracts. Silly me, I learned something today. Thanks Crazy AL!

-Kelly/Fargas '08

Ah the contract year. Heres a guy who's never been healthy at any level and had one good season in a contract year. Especially considering Fargas was playing in a generally run friendly zone blocking scheme. Signing him has to all but eliminate the possibility of drafting RUN DMC right? I mean they have Dominic Rhodes and drafted Michael Bush at the top of the 4th last year. Right?

-Gibril(in!)

I like Gibril, he's overrated now though. He's a one dimensional SS. His coverage isn't Roy Willams bad but he can be exploited. He worked so well in the Giants scheme because the monster pass rushed masked his deficiencies and he was able to do what he does best, put hits on people and stop the run.

Oh and don't the Raiders have Michael Huff? I guess this is an admittance he's a tremendous (and unexpected) bust (the Raiders seem to have a knack of collecting these guys, Robert Gallery anyone?)

Now let's look where OAK has a lot of money tied up on defense:

SS/FS Wilson/Huff
DT Kelly
CB Asmahgougaaiaiairfhghd (who's really really lights out)

I just think that's a lot of money to spend on a rather underwhelming core of defenders.

-Kwame!!!!!

Saving the best for last

I'm so giddy I can barely contain myself

--It sure looks as if the Raiders are going to land 49ers OT Kwame Harris with a big deal, somewhere in the neighborhood of $5.5 million annually for five years with $10 million to sign. (I just checked out profootballtalk.com, and they had the same information about Harris. However, his agent, Ryan Tollner, contacted the Web site to inform them that the deal has not been completed.)

I pray this is true. Nothing would make me happier. The Raiders expect this guy to protect the blind side? Are you nuts!

And of course in the grander scheme of things this whole off season is cursing JaMarcus

They don't have an O-Line.

They don't have an WR's (Jerry Porter is gone to JAX)

and they don't have any stability....anywhere.

The Raiders are a car accident right now. You don't want to look but it's just so captivating.

It Was Fun While it Lasted, Gibril...

And it appears to be over...

Newsday is reporting that Gibril Wilson will Sign a new contract with the Raiders.

At least it isn't the Eagles.

The deal looks to net Gibril about 6-to-6.5 Million a year.

Sigh....
