Quite a Bit of Interesting News Today...

Lute Olsen has decided to return to the sideline next season as the head coach of the Arizona Wildcats.

Now, that's not huge news as a lot of people expected it. However, He finally broke his silence on why he decided to take the season off in the first place. He said it was to deal with the stress of divorcing his second wife.

That's fine, but a lot of bricks are falling into place in Tucson. First off, Andy Katz of ESPN.com beleives that Interim Head Coach Kevin O'Neill will likely look for another head coaching job before returning as an asisstant to Olsen. However, I don't know if he'll find it after a mildly dissapointing 19 win season at the helm of the Wildcats, as well as a first round exit.

Second of all, Olsen said that he will be returning to an "Open" style of basketball. Take that to mean that there will no defense played in Tucson until 2011. Kevin O'Neill played a harder nosed style and did a lot more in half court sets.That might not be a bad thing though, it worked for the Wildcats in 97, although it's hard to lose with Mike Bibby and Jason Terry.

Third, You have to be curious what this means for the two potential lottery picks on the Arizona Roster. Jerryd Bayless and Chase Budinger both could go in the 1st round of the NBA draft, and both are known to be looking into it. However, With the Lute Olsen run n' gun returning, you might wonder if they couldn't be convinced to come back and pad their stats a little with hopes of making themselves more money.

All in all, it is the best thing that could have happened to the team. Olsen is a hall of fame coach for a reason. Let's just hope that he can revitalize the team in the more difficult then ever before world of the Pac-10.
